STAR Peer Bereavement Support

Going through a bereavement can feel isolating, like no one understands what you’re experiencing or that the world keeps turning when yours might have stopped.
STAR has been running bereavement groups across Bristol since 2019, providing a safe and supportive volunteer-led space for people going through a bereavement. From one group, the network of volunteer led groups has grown to provide support to people across Bristol. CASS is delighted to help promote the service and it’s vital work.
STAR offers loads of support for people who want to set up a bereavement group in their own community. STAR Training the Trainer program is free and thorough with 4 modules guiding you through everything you need to know to feel confident setting up and running a group. Participants are encouraged to apply their learning, utilise the resources they have been given and take steps to reach out to the wider community.
Coordinating a STAR group will make a huge difference to people going through a difficult time in your community. You don't need any special skills to set one up - just the desire to help others and being a good listener.
The next round of STAR Training the Trainers Course is Wednesday 18th January 1-3pn and Thursday 19th January 6-8pm (two courses running simultaneously):
